We’re there for people living with dementia from day one

Jim was diagnosed with vascular dementia 6 years ago after a brain scan revealed he had cognitive impairment. It was Jim’s wife, Liz, who began noticing that Jim was not himself, which was what prompted them to see a specialist in the first place. 

After a second brain scan, Jim was told he had vascular dementia. Liz describes this moment as ‘like a punch in the stomach’. The pain of losing your loved one, bit by bit, day by day is heartbreaking. It’s time to put an end to this all-too-familiar pain for families devastated by dementia. 

It will take a society to beat dementia but with your help, we can continue funding vital research to change the future for people like Jim and Liz.
